The people behind the plants.
Owner-run, Fanshawe-trained, and fussy about the details.

Hi — I'm Sarah.
I started Root & Rise because I kept meeting people who loved their homes but avoided their own backyards. That always struck me as something worth fixing.
I studied Landscape Design at Fanshawe College here in London, and I've had my hands in the dirt ever since. I've kept the company small on purpose: I'm on site for every project, start to finish, and I only take on work I can give my full attention.
Honestly, my favourite part of the job is the visit a year later — when everything has grown in and the yard finally looks like it was always meant to be there.
How we work.
We listen first
Before we sketch anything, we want to know how you live. Morning-coffee-outside person? Big family barbecues? A dog who thinks he owns the lawn? It all changes the design.
Nothing goes in without a reason
Every plant and every stone has to earn its spot. If it doesn't serve the space, it doesn't make the plan.
We'd rather do it right than do it twice
Proper bases under the stone, healthy soil under the plants, good materials everywhere. It costs a little more care up front and saves a lot later.
We stick around
A garden isn't finished the day we pack up. We're here to help yours grow up — and we like checking in on our old projects.
